With over 30 years of experience in continuous insulation, Ed’s passion is developing improvements for how things are built. As a custom home builder, he used advanced 24″ OC framing with CI on their first home in 1992 and discovered “ghosting” of nail heads and foam board seams behind the siding. This demonstrated foam shrinkage behind the finished siding; which left a large gap with no insulation over the studs and thermal bridge concerns from fasteners in the CI. We knew this was a problem we wanted to address so in 1994, we began the use of air exchangers and built homes that tested 0.48 ACH 50 beginning an era of passive home tightness.
InSoFast insulation panels were born in 2006 when Ed took the benefits of ICFs continuous insulation and built-in studs and eliminated ICFs challenges to create InSoFast panels. InSoFast is easy for DIYers and still addresses the concerns of the building science community. Ed developed fail-safe-in-the-field products for the homeowner and the seasoned building science professional. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, biking, hiking, and a good campfire.
Matt works for InSoFast LLC, an American based insulation manufacture that provides innovative solutions for framing and insulation systems and is responsible for product development and implementation. He has assisted in the development of the new X-Bracket System, which allows spray foam, blown or batt insulation to be installed as exterior continuous insulation without thermal bridging. He hopes to be able to influence the construction industry to adopt a mindset of building science to improve how homes are built. Prior to InSoFast, he had 11 years of construction industry experience in both the commercial sector and the residential sector. During his time in commercial construction, he assisted in management of over 1.8 billion dollars of project value, including Denver International Airport, The FoundryLine Residential Highrise in downtown Denver, and various healthcare projects with UC Health in Colorado Springs. During his time in residential construction, he worked on home remodels.
