When we founded our company back in 2006, one of our core goals was to make insulation simple. Soon after the launch we started our Youtube channel with informative videos about our product specifications and installation tips. Chances are if you have an InSoFast question, you can find a detailed video on our channel that answers it. From How-To guides, to customer project overviews and interviews, these visual guides act as a resource to make your project flow even smoother.
As an alternative to sifting through our extensive Youtube channel history, we’ve decided to compile ten highlights from over the years. These selections describe the engineering and philosophy behind InSoFast, while also providing some valuable installation information you’ll need to get started. We even included a few important videos created by other professionals in the field. So before installing InSoFast take a few minutes to sit back and watch these 10 videos:
In this video created by Engineering.com, Building Science Professional Mark Lawton discusses R-Values and variables that affect the thermal performance of insulation. Did you know that common insulation procedures can decrease the R-Value by 50%? This is one of the flaws in traditional insulation that we’ve addressed in the engineering of InSoFast panels. Our design provides continuous insulation which prevents thermal bridging, meaning your InSoFast wall will maintain it’s R-Value long after other foams and fills have failed. The video explains why addressing these variable is important.
Everyone likes to know how things are made. This short clip from an episode of The DIY Network’s Renovation Realities shows how closed cell foam beads are molded into our interlocking panels. All of our manufacturing takes place in the United States.
So what’s the deal with the adhesive? Well, this silly test from Loctite shows just how much PL Premium holds up. But to get technical, we worked with a third-party independent testing facility to evaluate the power of our engineered stud/adhesive bond. The astounding results concluded the safety factor at over 400 times the weight of standard ½-in drywall. Most structural beam systems are engineered to a safety factor of only 2-3 times their rated loading. That’s a lot of weight!
What happens when you combine Kool-aid and InSoFast? You can see the moisture control channels at work. In this clip Dean describes why moisture drainage is important and what can happen if it’s not properly addressed. But more importantly he demonstrates the capabilities of InSoFast’s engineered moisture control channels…with blue Kool-aid.
For those of you thinking about using InSoFast to insulate the exterior of your home, this video is a must see. We speak with the foreman of an energy retrofit project in eastern Pennsylvania who talks about the decisions involved when updating an old home. It’s the introduction to a six part Exterior Retrofit series that we produced last year. Watch the entire series on our Exterior InSoFast playlist.
In this How-To video the inventor of InSoFast gives a demo on setting up the InSoFast Interlock Pattern. Although the panels are super easy to install, visually witnessing the interlock is always helpful.
That’s right. Dean and Ed installed InSoFast on a basement wall in under 10 minutes! For the sake of your time we even sped up the video so you can see this remarkable feat in action in just under 3 minutes. Ed also gives a few install tips, when we resume back to real time. We highly suggest this video for InSoFolk planning on using the panels for basement purposes.
A quick but informative watch for people interested in alternatives to adhesives.
Our Drywall video is a popular one. It’s a simplified guide for the homeowner to install drywall over InSoFast panels. You’ll learn the best methods for securely fastening screws into the drywall and InSoFast stud.
Can InSoFast handle the weight of my TV? Over the years this has been one of our top five FAQ’S! So logically we created this video to make the process easier for InSoFolk looking to hang TV’s onto InSoFast. Find the studs, attach your TV mount, install the TV back plate, and voilà.
