The most comfortable floor is insulated!
If your concrete basement floor leaves you searching for thicker socks, consider the many benefits of applying InSoFast panels as basement floor insulation! Adding insulation to your basement floor is one of the most comfortable investments you can make for your home. The investment’s payback can begin in only 4.4 years! But in order to make the renovation worthwhile, there are a few factors to consider before you start insulating.
InSoFast insulation panels come in user-friendly panels that can be carried, stacked, and installed easily. Each panel is 2’x4’ and appropriate for application on any flat surface – including your concrete floor. As the name suggests, the project will be done quickly, and the insulation will work to produce a comfortable area for your bare feet.
For your basement floor insulation, we offer two products from which you can choose. The UX 2.0 and the EXi 2.5 panels work on all flat surfaces and include built-in, non-ferrous studs along with several other beneficial features.
The base level, the UX 2.0 panel or the EXi 2.5, can be either glued down, screwed, or apply a floating floor method over the concrete.
The other option, the EXi 2.5 insulation panel, is 20% more R-Value than the UX 2.0 option.
Both product lines offer some shared benefits:
- Rot-resistant framing due to built-in, non-ferrous studs
- Moisture control channels to wick away vapor
- Non-porous, closed-cell EPS foam
- Channels for running services
- Stackable, lightweight, and straightforward panel design
The EXe 2.5 panel is 2.5” thick and promotes a gap-free insulation system with a closer fit for a straight, true installation.
How to Install InSoFast Insulation Panels under Flooring
Concrete absorbs water in a surprising fashion. Before you install any type of floor insulation or flooring finishing product, you should make sure to evaluate the moisture presence and waterproof the cement if needed. Once you have your floor prepared, flush, and ready for insulation, you’ll move on to one of the following installation methods:
- Partial adherence
- Full adherence
- “Floating” panels
- Screw attachment
With the InSoFast insulation panels in place, you’ll then need to install a minimum of ½” subfloor and then the carpet, laminate, or other finishing material you like.
Depending on the panel you choose, your floor will be 2” or 2 ½” higher, so you’ll need to make adjustments to your plans to accommodate this change.
