There are various types of insulation products, such as rockwool, cotton and fiberglass, that are notoriously tricky to install and not a DIY kind of job. Another alternative is spray foam, but it can be a very messy affair, is also tricky to install, and is more expensive than other insulation options.
InSoFast closed-cell EPS foam insulation panels are cost-effective, easy to install, take up very little interior space, control moisture, and will turn your steel box into an enjoyable living or working area.
InSoFast CX Container Panels are specifically designed for the side walls of shipping containers. The 44” x 24” panels have a thin profile and take up only two inches of interior space, enabling you to minimize the thickness of your walls.
The panels are lightweight, offer very high R-values, and can be affixed directly to the container sides with adhesive. Most installations can be completed by do-it-yourselfers with a utility knife, glue and a caulk gun.
Alternatively, combine InSoFast Inserts for the container’s side walls, end walls and ceiling with InSoFast UX 2.0 or InSoFast EXi 2.5 panels to achieve maximum insulation and air-tightness and leave you with a smooth surface for installing drywall and other wall finishes.
Why Your Container Home Needs Insulation

Condensation: The inside of an unprotected metal shipping container can feel like a tropical rainforest. When warm air comes in contact with the cool metal, condensation occurs, similar to what happens to a cold can of beer on a hot day. Too much moisture brings mold, rot, rust and poor air quality.
Temperature Control: Steel is an excellent heat conductor. Without adequate ventilation, right-sized HVAC equipment, and proper insulation, your shipping container will feel like a sauna in the summer and an ice box in the winter.
Sound: Sound echoes inside a metal box. Insulating it will help reduce noise problems to an acceptable level.
