You will typically hear the term “R-value” when discussing insulation and energy efficiency. What is it, and why does it matter?
The job of insulation is to keep the heat outside your home on hot days and inside during cold weather by not letting it move easily from place to place. The result is a cooler home in the summer, a warmer home in the winter, lower energy bills, and better acoustic performance.

What Does “R-Value” Mean?
The “R” in R-value refers to thermal resistance. It measures how effectively a type of insulation will resist the transfer of heat. In a nutshell, a higher R-value means the material is better equipped for thermal resistance than material with a low R-value.
High R-value alone, however, is not sufficient if small gaps and fissures in your building materials allow heat to escape.
With traditional fiberglass and wood framing, for example, each wood stud represents a thermal short circuit where moisture-filled, heat-transferring air can pass through the barrier. The stud area accounts for 15% to 25% of the wall surface and significantly reduces the R-value of the fiberglass.
Why Choose InSoFast Insulation Panels?
InSoFast panels feature integrated, non-conductive polypropylene studs that are encapsulated by the insulating material. Their interlocking grooves create a tight seal at the intersection of each panel. The tongue-and-groove connections within the panels allow them to be installed without any gaps.

The InSoFast EXe 2.5 panel is also 2 ½-inches thick and designed for exterior applications. Both sides feature ORSC, Section R703.1.1-approved rain screen and drainage technology on both sides. Their continuous R-value of 10 outperforms traditionally framed R-15 batt walls.
