Weather in New Brunswick
New Brunswick has a humid continental climate with maritime influences, particularly along the Bay of Fundy and Gulf of St. Lawrence. History of New Brunswick
New Brunswick was originally inhabited by the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, and Passamaquoddy peoples. French explorers arrived in the early 1600s, establishing part of Acadia. After several conflicts between the French and British, the British took control in 1755, leading to the expulsion of the Acadians. Following the American Revolution, Loyalists fleeing the United States settled in the area, giving the province much of its early English-speaking population. New Brunswick was carved out of Nova Scotia in 1784, becoming a separate colony, and joined Canadian Confederation in 1867 as one of the four original provinces.
